Prairie Winds Concert Band, Regina, Saskatchewan
Music, anyone?
The Prairie Winds Adult Concert Band meets Monday evenings between September and May to play a variety of band music, including marches, overtures, pop tunes, and Broadway musical arrangements.
Current members range in age from early twenties to retirees; our minimum age is 18, and there is no maximum.
There are two groups:
the Intermediate Band, under the direction of Bev Brander, is for those that are new to an instrument, returning to their instrument after a few years away, or for those that wish to play repertoire that is more fun than work.
the Senior Band, under the direction of Stacy Grunert, is for those who have more experience with their instrument and welcome a challenge.
If you would like to join us, please do! Just give us some warning by contacting us beforehand, and we'll find you a chair and some music.
Who are the Prairie Winds anyway?
- " a bunch of re-cycled teenagers"
- "the best kept secret in Regina"
Seriously, though, we are a group of musicians that enjoy playing concert band music. We have two major concerts each year, at Christmas and at the end of the season in late April or early May. In the past, we have participated in November 11 services in Fort Qu'Appelle.
